Ok i have the gigabyte ga-7n400pro2 mb with the dual raid controllers. I have 2 120gig hds raid 0'd. Both hds are ata100 7200rpms. In sisoft sandra it shows my hds performing slower than raid0 hds at ata100 5400rpms?!?! wtf?

That was my motherboard up until two weeks ago.
A known problem is *horrible* parallel ata raid speed. It's a hardware problem - they used a really junky chip, it's called "ITE" I think.

Serial ATA supposedly works fine, but I never got mine to work because the drivers for it were so horrible. They would bluescreen windows instantly. Completely unusable.
If they have updated the SATA RAID drivers, they may work now.

The PATA RAID is unfixable though.

Generally, people who tried using the PATA "ITE" RAID chip found that a single drive performed better. Quite a lot better. It was pretty amazing to see how bad of an implementation gigabyte did.

One option would be to get a couple PATA -> Serial ATA convertors.
Look around on google for "sil3112", which is the SATA chip that board uses.
Hopefully they've updated the drivers.
