I can get my comp to run my 2.0A @ 2.4 easy but at 2.5 it will boot and everything but it BSOD's before the XP loading screen, should I up the voltage or does windows just not like 2.5?

EDIT : Its an intel if you were wondering

perhaps your 2.0ghz chip doesn't work at 2.5ghz? Windows doesn't care what your clock speed is for the most part.

Have you upped the voltage any? If not, bump it up a bit and see what happens.

ok, im not sure if i could boot at all @ 2.6, or maybe that was 2.8 ill check

We need more people with the logic you have. It's starting to get tiring to see people asking "why won't my chip run at 3.6ghz??? when I overclock???" its almost like they expect or demand it to magically happen.

Well I got it running @ 2.6 and 1.7V vcore, but it would just randomly reboot so i fiddles a little with the FSB and found that 133MHz FSB would run ok, so here I am typing out my reply and it rebooted. So i fiddled again and now its running @ 2.6 and 1.7V vcore and its fine so far. If I run memtest86 will it give me an indication if the OC is fine (i've run it for RAM but dunno about proc's?)?

memtest only really works when your overclocking the ram or you are using dividers.

use prime95 to test the cpu alone

ok right now im running my RAM at 1:1 ratio, i could run it at 5:4 i think but i dont know if it would be stable, ill see. If its not would i just up the voltage. What would a safe voltage for vcore and vdimm be?

On my extra machine I was able to get my old 2.0A to 2.65 with stock voltage settings! Bastard is rock solid too. Stock cooling was also used. Truly a rare gem of a CPU.
