I came across an unbelievable case at work the other day...I didn't even know we had such an awesome specimen in our possesion, but we were throwing it out. I "voluntarily" took it home, and this thing is just waiting to get cut up and modded. It is gigantic! It is 8 1/4 wide, 16" deep and 26" tall. Three fans on the front, 120mm and 90mm on the back - I am so excited to have this case!! The only problem is: it has some age on it, I can't even find a manufacturers name...the only pieces I have for the case itself are the two sides. The top and the front are missing. I MAY be able to get them from our Network Admin, but he is on vacation for the next two weeks, and I am itching to get on this case. If anyone has seen this model before or maybe knows where I can find some parts (top and front) please let me know!

That looks alot like the old Inwin q500 I had, but there are differances, mine had 2 80mm Fans in the rear near the PSU, only room for a single hard drive up top, actually there was room for 2 but they werent stacked on top of each other like your case. your case is a bit larger. but my guess is that it is a Inwinn brand.

I looked around on google, I found Inwin Q500, Q600, Q700, Q800, but couldn't find pics of the chassis on any of them other than the Q500. sorry I cant be more helpful

Nice big server case it looks like. Those things scream water cooling and RAID 5 multi-disk array. Hopefully you can get the remaining parts because it looks a little exiguous like that. But hey ... Function before Fashion!+

Any idea what form factor motherboards it will accept? Would be nice if it had mounts for ATX boards. If not it's not a big mod if you know your way around a tool box.

Why would you ask us to be kind? That's a beast of a system you could have there. I can't wait to see you do something awesome with it!

If you can't find the panels, make some new ones out of smoked plexiglass, and add a white/red cathode inside. It'll be totally invisible when off, but sorta-clear when on!
 
Also, if you don't want a see thru plexiglass, but want a nice glossy look, just remake the panels out of clear plexi, then spraypaint the backside of the plexiglass with plastic-approved paint. It looks like a deep gloss car finish. Then all you have to do is bolt the plexi to the case by drilling holes to the proper size. With that case though, there are tonsssssss of possiblities. You can make a gigantic file server, gaming machine, water cool it in a million different ways with more than one loop, light it up like a christmas tree (lol), etc.. I'd try to find the original case peices back at your work though. They have to be laying around somewhere because I doubt they would throw something away that goes to a nice case like that no matter how old it is. If you get those, it would make it a ton easier to mod, and it would give you the complete stock look to start out with.

They might have a little different fan setup in the front, there were probably two diff versions like the Lian Li V1000 and V1000 plus.. but, they are the same size and everything.

Thanks for all of the replies. I searched all over my work today, to no avail. BUT, I did find a site that had some server cases with the exact same dimensions.... http://addtronics.com/spectbl.htm The best thing is, you can order separate parts (like the top and front bezel) without buying the whole case! Looks like I will be able to use this beast after all! I've been thinking of plans all day today. Once I get the parts in, I'll start a worklog. I definetly want to keep you guys up to date on this one! Thanks for the help. Oh yeah, she is ATX compatible.

I have 2 of those, and damn they're super heavy. I'm in the process of modding it also. Lets see how mine and yours turned out. ^_^
 
Yep, I guess it also the same as the http://www.addtronics.com/7890a.htm case. well i wasn't far off, it very well could have been an Inwin case as it was alot like the old Q500 I had but a little bigger, sorry for leading you in the wrong direction.

They might be super heavy, however they dont flex at all. They are probally one of the most solid cases I have ever worked on.
 
WOW, flashback!!

I used to have one of those.
Put a SLOTA athlon in those (whopping 600mhz!!!!!) when they FIRST came out.
Thought I was the shiznit!! (now I know I am ....... I keed I keed)

Anyways, that case has some major modding potential.
Main thing is to paint it as the beige is very plain.

Any updates on the beast?

I feel bad, we toss cases like that all year long. Every three years our computers are swapped with new ones. That close to 50 offices of gear ever 3 years :)
