The G70 is applying to change the pcie sig certification, as the 75w from the power connector and the 75w from the motherboard is not enough. They are going to need dual power connectors per motherboard.
This is a pisser for two reasons:
1: SLI psu will not work so well, as we will need to have 4 pcie connectors, and thus a new PSU.
2: with 3x75w = 250w at load, these in SLI will be 550w. This means that just for graphics, let alone cd/dvd, cpu, add in cards, hard drives, fans lighting, a 550w PSU will be required.
3: This will be pretty damn expensive, as it will eat into your power bill...
But oh well, all the price for those few extra polygons....
by the way, 5950 to 6800 = a massive jump, and the 5950 cannot play todays games, and is puny cmpared to 6800.
will the 7800 or whatever it is be a massive jump again, and the 6800 be unable to play games at 1600x1200 in a year?
i.e. will dual ultras be able to play unreal 3.0 games at 1600 x 1200?
thanks
