Hmm too far then.

All right here's what I recommend:
$180 - Intel Core i5-3470 CPU
$73 - Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Intel B75 mATX Motherboard
$46 - Corsair CMX8GX3M1A1333C9 8GB DDR3 1333 RAM
$195 - Gigabyte GV-R785OC-2GD Radeon HD 7850 2GB PCI-E Video Card
$95 - Samsung 840 120GB SSD
$74 - Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$18 - LG iHAS124-04 DVD Burner
$90 - Seasonic G Series SSR-550RM 550W Modular PSU
$60 - Corsair Carbide Series 200R ATX Case
$150 - Asus VH236H Black 23" LCD Monitor
-----
Total: $981 shipped

Unfortunately the budget wasn't high enough to fit an overclocking or good SLI/Crossfire support. But managed to get everything else in.
