1GB Mpeg file is 3.4gb on DVD? Roxio

Im trying to burn a 1gb mpeg file using roxio but roxio is saying it needs 3.4gb on the dvd. What am I doing wrong? any ideas? thanks in advance.

i think its converting the mpeg to .VOB DVD files, so essentially its turning it into a DVD aka Transcoding it and that sometimes takes from 1hour to 2hours.(depending on CPU etc...)

Even if it's a properly encoded MPEG2 file, it shouldn't grow by 2.4gigs. Roxio should mux the audio and that video into VOBs of 1gig each.
