Will a monitor with a 1920x1200 be compatible with a Macbook Pro (late 2012 - non retina)?

what kind of graphics card drives the macbook pro? laptops werent designed with the intention of driving a larger panel, this may play into such a decision, Ive seen people complain about trying to drive a 30 inch panel with a mac mini and had to giggle at their confusion.
