Hi Folks.

I tried to use adaptive AA by clickin off the "let application decide" for AA, and no AA was applied at all. Then, I clicked it off, and tried to turn it back on in game.
It wont. I press "apply" and it immediatly goes back to "off". So uh.... anyone else had this problem? And if so, how do you fix it?

Go to mydocuments/Battlefield2/profiles/000x

and edit this line in video.con

VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 4Samples

FOr some lame ass reason, the profiles folder was set to "read only", which means the application could not write configuration files to it. Made it not read only, and using ingame controls worked. fuckin lame, eh?

yes i have the exact same issue with my x1800xt since the 1.4 patch.

i have to edit the video config file, if i try to change it in game it keeps going to off.

That's weird...I had the same thing. I just restarted the game like it says to do and they stuck afterwards.

Set Cat A.I. to off, and you can apply any AA you want from the drivers. Dont feel bad, [H] didnt know how to fix it either. :)

i dont know if this is the same issue, but does anyone have the problem where the shadows from any object are very low quality and are pixely and very blocky, even when you have shadows turned on high? havent been able to fix it yet. i have everything maxed out cept i have AA set to x4 and res is @ 1280x1024.

Yes - this happens for me also.. like when I am in a vehicle and I am looking around at the inside of it... the shadows cast on the sides of it and such are really blocky... I hadn't tried to tune that yet.. just noticed it this week.. but my in game setting AA modes work great.. have not tried adaptive.. will do that this weekend..

well atleast i know im not alone on this one, but it is aggravating when your graphics card is really good at this part and shows up looking like crap and everything is casting a shadow of the aztec temples...

looks like when I enable self shadows in Oblivion.. hanis!

That wasn't it. The game did not have permission to write to the config file in the bf2 folder.

As I said, turning off Cat A.I. lets you force any AA you want in the CC. This is a fact.

OK, but that doestn fix the fact that you cant use in game setting with this problem.

Yes, you can use the in game settings, with Cat A.I. off. In game doesnt go up to 6xAA either. Using the CP is better.

You aren't understanding. The game did not have permissions to write to the config file, CAI on or off. It was marked as read only with some funky ass permisions, which I did not initiate. After changing the permissions, the ingame settings could be used to write to the config file.
Also, 6x is available from ingame settings.

This is good to know. I just had to hack my startup to get 1920x1080, but noticed that AA was off in the Game settings. I hit apply and started a game. Trust me, it wasn't on :D

Interesting that this thread came back up.
I bought a wide screen monitor and the resolution is not supported. I need 1680x1050. Any way to force this resolution?
Can't believe BF2 doesnt support widescreen. Got shit stretched out with something like 1360x1024, which is pretty goddamned lame.

My BF2 has issues whenever i try to enable either CatAI or ADAA, it turns off all AA in the game. The only way i can get AA back is to turn off ADAA and CatAI and to force regular AA. Anyone else have this issue? i red through this thread and it seems that this is sort of the problem, but not exactly. Oh yeah, same thing happens in NFSC. This doesnt happen in any other game, only in BF2 and NFSC.

Well, I have the issue where if I turn HQAF on, then no AA gets applied whatsoever. Go figure. :p
