OK so I took the sliders in the CCC and put them to thier max values... but it dont seem to be getting me the results that I was hoping for, I just did a fresh install and I havent really gotten to far into re-installing some things so I was expecting a lower score for 3D mark 05, I got 99xx at stock settings, 10000 at XTX and 10043 with it maxed out, am I doing something wrong?
I checked my rivatuner for temps and to verify the speeds and as far as I can see, the setting took hold, and the temps look great.

so what do ya think, I used the DX that came with my COD2 game, it just says DX 9, should I DL a different version?
 
We have very similar systems, and I scored about 10,600 stock in 3dmark05 and around 11,100 at XTX. It could be a CPU issue.. is it OCed? It could also be due to any settings you are forcing in the CCC such as AA and AF, things of that sort. Check to make sure all of that is set to lowest or application preference.
 
nope, the AA and AF is set to application preference, I have no OC on the CPU either, I will update things after work. what is the latest NForce chipset drivers? I have the 6.85's right now.

your CPU is holding you back as far as scores go.

OC that 3500+ to 2.4 or 2.5 and you'll get a nice increase. What's that? You don't have OCing ram? Use memory dividers. As long as your mem mhz is @ around 200 then you can take your CPU as high as it will let you (don't go beyond 1.55v or 50*C, though)
 
ya my ram is at ~206 (CPUz) and I have the CPU set to 215x11 (2.37), what is a better route higher freq. or lower multiplier?

also, I added another HDD to the machine, it has the same rotational speed as my main but it only offers 2mg cache whilst the main drive offers 8, ya think that has something to do with it?

and one more thing, should I keep my CPU temps below 50 at load or idle? right now at the currant setting it loads at about 44-46c
