1900 XTX Installation Problem

Lo all,

Two problems:

1) Artifacting on the screen following installation.

2) Unable to open Catalyst Control Center - "do not have administrator privileges" or some thing like that.

Further details on each:

1) Uninstalled the previous drivers using "Add/Remove", rebooted, ran "Driver Cleaner". Turned off PC, removed old card (ATI x850 XT PE), installed new card, started PC. Installed drivers. About 2 mins after this, "snow" appeared on screen, then a range of strange colors, monitor started turning itself on and off and seemed to be rotating through different MHZ.

Eventually uninstalled new drivers, reinstalled old card and put in old drivers. All is well. Tried another installation of the new card and had the same problem. I thought that maybe the screen reosolution was causing the problem so second time around I changed from 1600 x 1200 desktop to 800 x 600 desktop. This made no difference.

Any thoughts? Is it display settings? Power? The card? The monitor? Oter drivers?

2) The new drivers for the 1900 XTX installed the CCC. I cannot open it and receive the message that I do not have "adminstrator privileges". Problem is that I only have only account on the PC and it has full administrator privileges.

Any thoughts?

Have you installed Micrsoft .NET Framework? Its required for CCC but is a seperate download.
 
Go specifically to the ATI folder in the registry (click start, run, type in regedit) under Hkey local machine/software/ati Right click the ati folder (you might have more than 1 so repeat if necessary) then choose permissions and add full controll there, go to advanced and make sure everything is checked there too and that your account has full permissions. I've noticed in the past that sometimes the ATI drivers for whatever reason get corrupted and remove your permissions for that key in the registry. If you do this then restart the pc try again and hopefully no error, otherwise back your stuff up and run a repair install of windows. Good luck M8 ;)
 
Hey man, i bought a saphire x1900xtx and after a month i started to get artifacts on my desktop. It would play games fine, but i would get little artifacts pop up, they would go away when i refreshed the screen, only to come back again and again. I RMA'd it and im fine, is your proplem like mine was?
 
Triple I am not sure if it the same problem. The artifacting starts at the desktop and becomes so bad that I could not start a game even if I wanted to. When the artifacting occurs it pretty much covers the whole screen....

...and pardon my ignorance but what is RMA?
 
RMA - return merchendise authorisation

basically exchange your card ,


you should do a fresh windows install before you rma the card ,

it could be just some corrupt files in windows
