My 19' crt is getting a bit flaky in its old age. I would like to replace it with an lcd, but I need to have 1600x1200. The only ones I have seen that do 1600x1200 are 21' or bigger. Is there any 17' or 19' lcd that does 1600x1200 around ~$500.

I really don't think any 19" LCD will do 16x12.

However the DELL 2001FP is a 20" LCD and it will do 16x12 beautifully.

my laptop has a 15 inch screen that does 16x12.... i dont see why a desktop display cant... i bet there is some out there

btw... how is you DELL 2001FP? im thinking about getting one... how is it for games? CS:S and such...?

This gets asked every once in a while, and no, they still are not available. Back in the day, Planar used to make a 19" one with 1600x1200 and I'm guess that a few other manufacturers might have done the same, but they are not easy to find (if it is possible to find them at all). Even if you do find one, specs such as contrast ratio and response time have improved since then and it wouldn't be worth your while. The Dell 2001FP is plenty cheap now, so just go with that instead.

1600x1200 is a too high resolution for 19" viewable anyway so if you want it, go with 20"+ panels.

I have a 2001FP and its great for games. I only really play EQ2 and HL2 and never see any ghosting and i just love the sharpness of it in general, especially browsing the web. The only drawback i see is the deep blacks arent really black compared to a CRT but it doesnt bother me.

Well the 15' laptop screens I have seen doing 1600x1200 have looked fine so a 19' or 17' should be plenty big enough. I really don't want to spend $799(599 +tax+sh is the cheapest i have ever seen it but 799 is the normal price) on a monitor so that rules out the 2001fp. I guess I will just have to wait for LCD prices to drop more. :(

If you want a 1600x1200 lcd your going to have to shell out. I don't think a 19 inch with that native resolution would be any cheaper than a 20. Also, regular price for the 2001fp is $749 right now so if a coupon comes along there could be a pretty good deal there.
