Hi.

I am not happy with the quality of my LCD (VP201B). It is my first LCD and the screen door effect and backlight issue is a real turn off.

What are so good suggestions for 19" CRT?

Right now I am looking at:

Viewsonic P95F+
Samsung 997DF
NEC Mitsubishi DP930SBBK
NEC MultiSync FE991SB

Anyone of those stand out in anyone's opinion? Things to look out for/ things to avoid. Thanks! And sorry I am being such a pain on here. I have never had to get a monitor before and so far it is the hardest component I have EVER shopped for!

I have a FE991SB and it's been a wonderful monitor. Precise color reproduction (especially with a quality card). High refresh rates and bright as can be. The superbright functions are pretty useful for changing from normal settings to dvd/cinema settings quickly.

I have the Viewsonic A90f+ and it kicks ass...the P95f+ is a little better monitor, so I would highly recommend it.

Really? I heard the text was blurry and the geometry was off....

Any decent monitor will allow you to change the geometry. Blurriness is probably a monitor-dependent problem. Go to a BestBuy or somewhere like that and actually compare monitors and decide which is best for you.

I still have yet to see a viewsonic that looks good to me. This is coming from someone who has a crappy envision 19" monitor. Anyways The Mitsubishi is incredible buy it.

Which one? 930 or 991?

Maybe it is just the Best Buy around here (Bangor Maine) but the CRT monitor selection is almost non-existent. They have maybe 2 or 3 monitors (including a cheap Mag monitor).

Circuit city isnt much better.

Nothing Viewsonic makes can stack up to the Mistu 930. I bought this P95f+ so I could run 1600x1200@85hz, but that's just too blurry. I'm forced to run it at 1280x1024@100hz; ah well. Look at the dot pitch of monitors you are considering (except Samsung, they measure differently), you NEED .24 for such high resolutions on a 19" CRT.
