178.13 Drivers

Well, after a clean install of vista the exact same thing is happening, can boot her einto safe mode, but get an error relating to NVIDIA drivers if I try to restart the whole way.
Got a bad feeling my card has gone bad. It's a PNY 8800gtx signature series less than two years old, never been overclocked, modified, etc. I kind of dropped out of the tech loop the past year with stuff due, never heard of drivers killing hardware in the past, just weird that it would die like this within 2 days of installing the new drivers.

Please remind me NEVER to buy a pny card again:
Even though it's less than two years old on a full three year warranty, they are refusing to repair it under warranty,
exercising this clause in the warranty contract:

Warranty coverage requires proof of purchase documentation evidencing the date of purchase (sales receipt or invoice) AND original packaging.

I'm sorry, I'm not a packrat, and usually don't keep the origional packaging around for
several years.....

Tried it, now i can finally enabling AA on Mass effect and Spore but still no for Fantasy Wars and MotoGP 2007.

I had a fan start going bad on a card and I didnt have the receipt when I did an RMA with them. if you registered the card which I believe is required for the warranty then they would have all your info and proof. I just called them and they looked up my info and emailed me an RMA number. they replaced the card within the week.

Thansk for the tip, had already tried that. Problem is windows is pulling the old driver with the currepted/bugged file out of the system32 driver repository, and for the life of me haven't been able to give myself, even under hidden admin, the access to delete that file so vista would stop installing it automatically at startup.

You have to take possesion of the file, r.click/ properties/ security/ advanced/ owner/ edit...

Then edit permissions to take full control. Isn't Vista fun? And you thought you were the administrator and owner of your PC, silly user.

so far so good with my GTX280. I have gone back and forth with that card and my 4870x2 and I guess for some reason I run into 0 problems.

GX2 randomly crashes during COD4 for no apparent reason. Reinstalled twice still does it any suggestions other than the obvious?

9800GTX here having issues in Warhead, COD4, and Pure aka the only games that Ive played since isntalling these :( I actually benched Warhead using the BETA 1779 drivers before installing these new ones and lost 2fps with these non drivers. Going back to Betas asap

Mine don't downclock at all... do I need to do something extra to decrease the clock speeds in desktop mode?

I noticed in Vista that as soon as I enabled my second monitor the card ramped up to full speed. The throttling seemed to work fine with only one monitor active.
