got a $170 refund from newegg. need help spending it. Here's what I need:

Video Card For DooM III

This doesn't need to be an x800 or 6800, or even a 9800 pro. something cheap, cause I need more money for the other stuff. I also happen to prefer ATi to nVidia, but I don't care if it's built by or powered by. nice bundles are always good.

Power Supply

I have a micro-ATX case, so this is going to need to be a micro-ATX pwoersupply. it's imperitive that it's over 250w, and the more the better.

HSF

socket A athlon xp 2600+ on a DFI KM400 motherboard. I'd like to do a bit of overclocking, but my main concern is something that will actually cool my cpu {aka not stock hsf}

remember, I only have $170, but could go a little over if necessary. I like those all in wonder cards, but I know I don't have enough money for those.

What do you have now? It's kinda hard to tell you what to get w/o your system specs.
 
Radeon 9600XT - $138

or

Radeon 9600PRO - $125

Personally I would get the XT, but that bumps the price up a bit. The 9800 Pros are still around $200, so that's right out.

Enermax Micro ATX 270 Watt - $45.65

or

Enermax Micro ATX 250 Watt - $31.50

270 watt is the biggest Micro ATX PSU Newegg has, so not much choice there.

Arctic Cooling CPU Cooler For AMD Athlon Socket 462 up to 3400+, Model "Copper Silent 2M" -RETAIL - $14

Not the greatest HSF ever, but cheap, and should be adequate.

This puts your final price between $170.50 and $198, depending on whether you buy cheaper or better.

actually, If I'm not mistaken, I might be able to spend the money elsewhere, also. Is a 9500 pro better then the 9600XT? i can get one for the same price.....
 
I don't know how you feel about Best Buy or rebates, but if you don't mind em you can get a 9800 Pro Built by ATi for $179.

He said his refurb is at newegg though, so I believe it's only good there.
 
yeh, plus I need to buy a bunch of other stuff too.

here's an idea:

radeon 9500pro at 140 vs radeon 96090xt at 135

what's the better deal?
 
I'd recommend you get this Powercolor 9800SE. Omega drivers can softmod it and unlock the other 4 rendering pipelines. Same memory interface and clock speeds as the 9800Pro, so you're basically getting a 9800Pro for $145. It may be taking a slight gamble, but It'd be well worth it.
