Resistance is Futile...
I have two GTX580's in SLI on a EVGA X58 Classified3 (141-GT-E770) motherboard. The CPU is an i7 990x running at 4.4Ghz. The system has two separate water cooling loops. One triple fan radiator loop for the motherboard and CPU, and one dual fan radiator loop for the video cards. The system has been solid and I'm very happy with it. As you guys are aware the board has 16x 2.0 PCIe slots.
Are there any current or future video cards that will be excessively constrained by this system's CPU processing speed and PCIe bandwidth? Would a GTX680 SLI or a GTX690 quad SLI work effectively?
I would like to wait for something based on GK110 or Maxwell when I upgrade, and I wonder if my current motherboard and CPU can handle something based on GK110 or Maxwell.
Your thoughts please.
