Hi guys, my System is...

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 3.6GHz
Memory: Corsair 2x2GB PC2-8500C5 1066MHz
Video Card: ATi HD4870 512mb Sapphire 800/1100
Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate x64
Motherboard: Asus P5Q-E
Monitor: Samung SM2232BW (
Computer Case: Antec 900
PSU: OCZ EliteXStream 800W

I ran 3DMARK06 and got a score of 16k, 3DMARK05 was 22K, Vantage was 10k. Are these scores good for my specs?

I am currently thinking of getting a 4870x2, or would i be better getting a 4870 1GB?

If i got a 4870x2 would it be wasted at 1680x1050 res? And how much of an improvment would i see with a 4870x2 or 4870 1gb?

Do the games you play run smoothly? If so, then save your cash, if not, then upgrade! If you were to upgrade, the 4870 1GB may be a better choice as far as performance for price is concerned while gaming at 1680x1050 as newer games are starting to make good use of the extra memory.
 
Sounds about right, I get the same scores with the 1 card, if i crossfire it with a 4850 i break 20k on 3dmark06 and about 15k on vantage.

I would just get another 4870 and crossfire it.

ok kool, i could CF the 512mb but not much point, i could take my 512mb back get £200 for it and get a 4870x2 for £340 (£140-150) a 4870 1GB would cost me that,

I woke up one morning and found one of my PI black ram sticks burnt out and a very bad burnt smell attacked me when i opened the side panel.

As like retro said, if your doing fine with the card, why upgrade? I bought a gtx 260 and Q9550 for the hell of it, just to realize my E5200/9800gtx combo was enough for me.
 
On my Antec900 listed below I went from 8800GTX SLI which ran
3dmark06 at around 14,000 unclocked. I then went to the 4870 1GB and my 3dmark06 score was 12,764.

My Antec 1200 below has the 4870 X2 and ran the 3dmark06 at
around 15,000 unclocked which is disappointing.
It might be that Im using the 8.11 drivers............I dont know.
The newer ones wont install.
 
...seriously consider gaming performance. Using 3dmark is fine for troubleshooting but not for justifying upgrading. Not that you're doing this but I felt it necessary to say so.
