So I'm having one hell of a time looking at a 1080p 24" screen 2.5ft from me all the text and everything is so small. It doesn't look that clear to me. But I can lean back and be 3ft away from a 22" 1680x1050 screen and be comfortable. I want a screen 24-27" for gaming but not at the expense of my eyes. Would 27" 1080p be better? Resolutions and aspect ratios are really not my thing. All I know is 1080p seems uncomfortable and 27" 1440p I find even worse. I believe 1680x1050 is 16:10 but not a lot of popular gaming displays that use that. Maybe the aspect ratio is a factor.

??

Wow. 1050@22" is functionally identical to 1080@24 (90 v ~92DPI).

If those extra 2DPI are killing you, then yeah, 1080@27" should be great for you since that drops it down to ~82DPI. And yes, 1440@27" is not going to be for you since that ups the density to ~109DPI.

Last thing, here's a handy reference for you.

Divide these values by the screen size you're going for (only going to include 16:9) based on the resolution they're running at to figure out the pixel density. Since your current 1050 screen is 90DPI (, aim for values lower than 90.

1080p = 2202.90717
1440p = 2937.20956
2160p(UHD) = 4405.81434

e.g. 1080 @ 24"
2202.90717 / 24 = 91.78 DPI

Before I got my laser eye surgery done I had vision problems. Older age and cataracts. Yes 1080p on a larger screen will help. So if on a 24" now go to 27" or 28" if you can find one. 34" would be next after that.

I sit 3' from my monitor. I had a pair of glasses made that focus exactly that distance, call them my computer goggles. Just upgraded to a 27" 144Hz, 1440p LG and changed the Windows Scale to 125% as mentioned above. Sharp as a tack.
