Can anyone tell me how the pixel pitch of 1680x1050 at 22" compares to the same res at 20"? I'd just like to know if you think subjectively that it's too loose at 22". I guess the analogy would be that I feel 1280x1024 is too low res for a 19" screen, where it's ok for a 17".

depends on how close you sit to the screen i think. with the 22"tn panels though, the point is a little moot since if you sit close, like 12", the screen angles will distort the sides a litte. so you really dont want to sit that close anyway.

i would say that a 22" widescreen at 1650x1080 is a little better then a 19" at 1280x1024. just my opinion. im happy with the resolution, it seems just right.

Definately matters how close....I run that resolution on a 15.4 inch laptop screen and it is good for me (I tend to like very high resolution screens though) 1920x1050 would probably still be ok for me lol

IMHO - it all depends on what you have used in the past.

The last panel(s) I used, before a recent updgare, was a Acer Tablet PC - 14 inch screen and 1024 X 728, and a Dell FP1907, 19 inch screen @ 1024 X 1280. At the time it seemed fine, but I recently got new iMac 20" running at 1650 X 1050 connected to a 23' Apple display @ 1920 X 1200.

Now... the point - when I go back to my old set up, still use it some, I notice the difference of the lower resolution. Did not bother me before - but once I went to a better setup, the difference, allbeit small, is very bothersome...

If you can do the price delta for a higher res screen - then do it. On paper, the differnce might seem small, but I can tell you, for me - its huge.

I have a 20" Samsung thats native res is that. I love it, it looks fantastic, crystal clear. Not sure how a 22 inch would look though.

1680x1050 on a 22" screen is good but its right there to the point were you wouldnt go any further. it would not be the best at 24". that said, i would like to get a 1920x1200 22" screen, that would be pretty nice. you would be able to put your nose right up to it:D

I think 21" 1680x1050 and 24" 1920x1200 is same dot pitch. 22" at 1680x1050 would be larger. 20.1" 1680x1050 and 23" 1920x1200 are same dot pitch.

its better than 15" and 19".

My 22" native res is 1680 1050, it's more noticeable when leaning in, but with such a large panel you can have it a good enough distance away not to matter, mines the same distance away as my old 19" CRT and it's fine.

yeah thats pretty much it. but that also means that you can have the 20" widescreens just a little closer and still get the same clarity. the 22" screens really arent an advantage over the 20" ones if you just go for size because they have the same resolution. granted, im glad i went with the 22" because it is a little better for sitting on my couch and watching tv.

Do people get LCD's for resolution?

Hmm if I wanted decent resolution i'd stick with my old 19" Iiyama CRT which can do 2048 1536 :)

yep i agree.

man i have to admit though, now that ive been using my 225bw for a week now i really dont get bothered by the backlight bleed. it still sucks when i notice it, but overall this screen just plain rocks. it is AWESOME in games. still awaiting the replacement panel, should be here sometime in the week.

I have the same Samy 225BW and am very happy with it. 1680x1050 is just right. A higher rez would yield a bit better image, however everything would be too small. It is just the right size for the rez (in my opinion).

Yeah I'm very pleased with my samsung out of all the problems it could have a slight backlight bleed at the top and bottom of the screen is nothing more than a minor annoyance every so often.

I think the resolution is great for the monitor, I think 1920 1200 is probably too much for my 7950 GX2 to handle and 1680 1050 with 1 high end video card is a great gaming experience for a reasonable amount of money.

Want to goto 1920 1200? well then 2-3x more for a decent monitor and twice as much for SLI graphics to support that :/
