1680 x 1050 Rez

I've noticed on all(most) of the 22"s out on the market, they have a 1680 x 1050 rez.

Is that a stretched rez or not, cause I can't remember. I have dual 19"s LCDs right now, but I'm looking at getting rid of one and gettinga widescreen and thought I might as well get something a lil bigger. I also like to dable with CAD and Photoshop, so more deskspace would be nice. I'm not a real big hard core gamer with FPS online, where which I really only play single player and when I do play multi online, its usually an RTS.

So would a 22" or 20.1" be a better route?

By stretched do you mean wide screen? Cause if so, then yes, it is.

Nah, sorry. Should have been more specific. I meant is that a streched rez, as in, if the image is stretched. Sorry if that makes no sense, makes sense in my head =\

Kinda like on a widescreen tv, when you take normal cable broadcasting and you can use an option and strech the image to fit the screen. Guess part of my question on that too is, is that a common rez for games as an option.

Most new games support widescreen 16:10 resolutions, but some don't (EA games) and some can be modified to run widescreen.

As for "stretched" no there is no "Stretched" resolution as you computer outputs the resolution you set. Now if you were playing a game that only does a 4:3 resolution then it can be stretched to widescreen, but if you have a nvidia card you can set it to be 4:3 with black bars on the left and right. Also some monitors have aspect modes or 1:1 pixel mapping modes to prevent stretching.

No stretching there.. square is square, not a rectangle... Its all in the resolution you drive the display at.. Those widescreens with a stretched image are not setup properly...

Thanks. It's just cause it was a rez that I really didn't recognize. And I wanted to make sure it'd be fine, cause from what I've looked around the net, most 22" and 20.1" can cost around the same price. So yeah, I'd rather have a bigger screen if the cost is the same =P

I'm looking at the 22" Dell, also cause I heard the 20.1" Dells are having color issues and few other things with the panels.

You can run Battlefield in widescreen...

I have an FW900 and was running BF2142 at 1920 x 1200...

Make a shortcut...

Put this in the commandline

"C:\Put link to game here\BF2142.exe" +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Change 1920 to whatever width, and 1200 to whatever height.

A Note... Battlefield will say it's in 800 x 600... or something other then what it's really running at... but when you get in the game you can see...

There is no such thing as a streched res, just a streched image across the res. So, if you wanted to, you could, stretch a 4x3 DVD or a 4X3 game to widescreen format and then yes, 1680 * 1050 would be a stretched res. I have a widescreen and the only stretched res I get is the one I put there when I distort it on purpose to fill the screen like Battlefield.
