Ive bought a new set of ddr rated at 1600

when I try to run the machine at memory stock settings it wont boot only at 1300 or lower

why is this happening?

your cpu doesnt run it at 1600 my cpu at stock clocks brings the mem clock to 1333 but with it oc'ed to 3.4 it runs at 1600.

I am confused at what you are saying. Are you saying that when you set the ram to auto it clocks lower than 1600 MHz? That is expected since no processor sold today officially supports 1600 MHz ram without overclocking the CPUs ram controller.

Or are you saying that it runs fine at 1600 MHz but for some reason at the auto setting of either 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz it will not boot?

wat?

so for what reason these guys are selling 1600 ram?

I honestly Ive not made my homework about i7 ram but Im sure the bios once I crank the fsb it just lets me choose 1600 as the ram speed which supposedly should work with these sticks right?

Because its not that hard to overclock the ram controller to support 1600 MHz ram.

You probably just want to enable the XMP profile.
