The 16:10 aspect ratio is being phased out for computer monitors. More and more see the advantages of 16:9 and upgrade to a new 16:9 monitor leaving their old 16:10 monitor in the garage. In the stores basically all new monitors are 16:9 and 16:10 lose more and more users for every day. Just a year ago 16:10 had far many users than 16:9 but now there is no big difference. It is just a matter of time before 16:9 totally will take over also in the userstats.

September stats from Steam:

res: 1920 x 1080, users: 23.58%, change: +0.99%
res: 2560 x 1440, users: 0.73% , change: +0.06%

res: 1680 x 1050, users: 17.80%, change: -0.49%
res: 1920 x 1200, users: 7.81%, change: -0.36%

so when do you think we see the last new 16:10 monitor?

....or have we allready seen it?

Advantages? More like it's cheaper for manufactures to make. Advantage for them not us.

What is very fast about a change of less than 1% for any of the resolutions?

It better not. Can't seem to adjust to 1080p at all. The extra width is nice but it just doesn't play nice on the eyes when doing anything but movies.

I'm pretty sure a few makers released some 1920x1200 monitors lately. Then again, they command a price premium over "Full HD" monitors, so the majority of people will most probably opt for the cheaper option. B&Ms pretty much only sell Full HD so that's another huge market of people who think 16:9 is better.

I guess we techies in the 1% are going to continue paying a premium for 1200p.

And am I the only person who has a difficult time explaining that my shit's 1200p and that it's better than 1080p? :D

Oceania rejoice!

Chocolate rations are being raised from 30 grams to 20 grams per week.

I think this comic is appropriate in this context:

Also, for anyone new to Oled's antics: he's on a crusade to tell everyone that 16:9 is the best aspect ratio, regardless of what your usage is.

It baffles me that some believes that it is a good way to analyze 2 dimensions without considering one of them.
