Is a 15k seagete worth the money, or it will be slow since its older. The drive is 36gb 15k u160.
Thanks

Go with a more modern SAS drive.

It really depends if it's worth the money or not, it depends how much money.

I agree, without posting a price, it is really, really hard to say whether it's worth the money. For $5, I'd say that I would find a way to put it to good use. Do keep in mind that it's likely somewhat loud and not neccesarily up-to-date in terms of STR. If it is indeed the U160 version, it'd be older than this:

in fact, here is SR's review:
http://www.storagereview.com/articles/200107/20010719ST336752LW_1.html

max STR 60MiB/s, min STR: 45MiB/s *shrugs* nothing much to write home about.

I have the 3rd gen u320 version of that drive. They did not really come to life until the 3rd gen. Still working through the growing pains of moving to 15k with those 2nd gen drives.

My 3rd gen is still fast enough for me, but a good bit slower than all of the new drives. I get almost 80MiB/s STR at the fastest part of the drive.

So...probably more trouble than it is worth.
