I was just wondering if my PC could handle 1440p surround using 3 - Dell S2716DG - 144Hz 1440p G-sync monitors. I have an i7-3770k overclocked to 4.1 ghz, 16 gigs ram, gtx 980ti. I just bought one of those monitors a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love moving from 1080 to 1440. I've always thought about going surround but have never tried it.

Thoughts, opinions...flames? :p

Forgot, I play all kinds of games. Here are a few: WoW, DOOM, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Xcom, etc.

Takes a lot of power to essentially run 7680x1440, not sure if one 980 ti would be enough to power that. Maybe on older games like WoW you could get 30-75 fps, but all the newer stuff would probably require SLI. You certainly won't be getting near 144Hz at that resolution. For single player experience, who cares though.

For the price of two more monitors you should probably just get a 34 inch 21:9 or wait for the 35 inch higher resolution 21:9 to come out. Then for immersive wide screen gaming you have one screen, and for competitive games you have the 144Hz screen.

i have 3x1440p mg297q on a single 1080gtx - and i love it - and my solution is without gsync

wanted to do freesync - but since ati/amd still lack a card in this class i'll wait.

Positives for me (YMMW) sync is not as big a deal on 144hz monitors (i notice tearing a lot less) - still would love to be able to use sync.

but am able to run DOOM at between 45-70fps in full-ish details.. looks stunning and plays well.

also: i don't even consider SLI, to much of a hassle on top of a 3 monitor setup.

but ran my old 1080x3 on a 970gtx sli setup.
