Hey everyone!

I've got a couple random questions here that I am sure someone knows the answer to. My case, the Silverstone TJ09, came with a regular 1394 Firewire motherboard cable. It also came with an extension cable for that. The extension cable has a few extra wires hanging off of the connector. You can see that in a picture here:

I used the extension cable but have a few questions.

1. What are those extra wires for? Are they for motherboards without the "block" connector? I have no idea.

2. Can I cut off those seemingly extra wires? It is tough to hide them and I do not use them.

Thanks, everyone!

I think the extra connectors are for boards without the block header.

Cutting off the extra pins shouldn't be a big deal. Just make sure the cut ends can't short against anything.

Yeah, I had the same question last week when I started building on a TJ09!

I took some electrical tape and just wrapped the wires. I had not thought of simply cutting them. If so, I'd still take some tape and cover the cut ends to prevent any accidental mishaps.
