Guys I just purchase an i7 930 cpu 1366 socket and am looking for a decent cpu cooler. My goal is to get it at least to 3.6ghz but would like to hit 4 ghz if possible. I'm not really looking to spend more than $50 on a cpu cooler so throw out those suggestions.

My old LGA 775 socket for my Q9550 I left OC at 3.6 ghz and it worked great for being only a $30 cooler.

Take a gander at the Hyper 212+ as it can be had for roughly $30. A lot of people have good things to say about it and its not expensive, unless you add aftermarket fans.

Other than that, there's the Scythe Mugen 2 but the mounting system isn't exactly the best.

Newegg has a rebate going on the Tuniq Tower 120 for $39.99 after MIR.

Also, the Xigmatek S-1283 can be had for relatively cheap and it performs well.

Thanks for those suggestions. What would you pick of those listed if you were me?

I like the tuniq 120 for $39.99 but I don't think its I7 compatible

I had to edit out the S-1283 as I guess it isn't compatible with 1366 unless you shell out another $10 for a mounting kit. Haven't looked at it in awhile so I forgot. :p

If I had to choose out of those, I would go the Hyper 212+ route. It should be enough to get you to 3.6GHz or more.

That is what I'm leaning towards now especially considering the price.

its pretty easy to mod the s1283 for use on a 1366 setup.

I did one for a buddy, just bought a few small chunks of aluminum and made a bracket, drilled 3 holes in each bracket, then made him a nice bolt thru kit, only sent like $3on the stuff

thanks for the suggestions guys. I went with the cooler master hyper 212 and will be adding my spare 120mm fan to the otherside which seems to do well based on reviews.
