1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
General purpose PC: browsing, gaming, and the occasional photo editing software. Photo editing is really the most intensive thing I do with my computer and it makes my current rig feel very sluggish.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1300 for everything would be lovely, but I'd be willing to stretch to $1700.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Southern California near the City of Industry. I have a Fry's and a Microcenter within a 25 mile radius of me.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
motherboard
cpu
case
keyboard
mouse
blu-ray / dvd player
ssd (512gb ideally)
video card
power supply
memory
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Not planning on re-using parts other than the monitor and speakers.
6) Will you be overclocking?
I'd like to mess with it a little bit so I'd like the motherboard to be capable of overclocking reasonably well (although not at the cost of a $100 or more premium)
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I will be re-using my 2560 x 1440 Yamakasi
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Wife leaving town with kids this week. Maybe this week if I can finish my other errands.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
I am so out of touch with what new tech is standard these days. All the good stuff that will fit my budget?
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I would like to purchase a new copy (for once) of Windows 7 x64 but I would consider Windows 8 x64 if the cost were significantly less. Hopefully someone can suggest how I can get a license for less than $100? I'm not a student though I am an educator.
I would like my motherboard to support multi-GPUs in case I want to try this in the future.
Thanks in advance for the help!
