The alternative OS gurus over at Phoronix have posted a 13-way low-end GPU comparison on Linux. Why? probably because no one else has. ;)

For our latest AM1 platform testing with the Athlon 5350 Kabini APU is comparing its Radeon R3 Graphics against an assortment of discrete NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics cards while running Ubuntu 14.04 Linux. For this comparison there's thirteen graphics processors being compared with the latest Linux GPU drivers.

Those results are very encouraging for people who want to pay little and still game on their PC.

I'm surprised how low the CS:S figures were compared to newer, more complex games like TF2 and Portal. I thought at this point ANYTHING could run CS:S pegged at 60fps.

I've always been kind of impressed what the little passive HD6450 in my workstation can do graphically.

I loaded up Mechwarrior online this week for a laugh...and it works just fine.
