Looking for a decent 13" laptop with a dedicated GPU. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, though something like a GeForce 8600M would be better than a 8400M or Radeon HD 3470.

I keep eyeing the Dell XPS 13", but I keep reading about them coming out with an update soon, yet nothing so far.

do NOT get anything with an 8400.... wait a bit... that chip has been out for *ages* and is due for a replacement....

the best 13 incher with a good GPU is currently the new generation macbook, hands down

Agreed. My Vostro has an 8400m GS and it is TERRIBLE now. Lags on fullscreen flash videos :(.

My U330 has an HD3450 in it and it's no slouch. I've been playing L4D on it lately.

LG P310: 9600GT
LP P300: 8600GS
Think there might be a Benq that has a 8600.

After that would be your 8400/9300/9400 integrated

I found a couple P300 on Ebay for $900 and my roommate bought one. So it was $700 for it which is a steal.

If you're comfortable moving up to a 14.1" check out the ASUS N80vN series. They are a bit large for a 14" but its nice and light and comes with a 9650M GT 1024MB.

9650M GT is equivalent to a 9500GT but a 1280x800 resolution, you're going to be able to run decent settings with most games. (I get 60+ FPS in TF2 with high detail, no AA/AF)

Just a tip, I think that has something to do with being on battery. I have the exact same problem on battery power only.

Unfortunately this is on high performance mode and AC power. The 8400m GS chip in my Dell is just bad. Dell didn't want to replace it in warranty because I was playing games on it and apparently because I didn't own a gaming model the GPU issue was a result of user error in their opinion.

wow that is fucked up... seriously ....

makes me think twice about them now (i've bought 4 dell computers in the past 4 years....)

Dell is fine. I think people are just expecting to much out of the POS card. My 1330 has a 128MB GDDR3 8400GS that is pretty decent when I O/C the card a bit.

Rejecting warranty for playing games? Never heard of that... You should call back and tell them "nicely" to honor the warranty.
