12V too low?

The PSU I have is an Antec EPS12V 500W running with specs in sig. In the BIOS, I see my 12V fluctuate from 11.48V-11.60V. Antec's load regulation spec says +/- 3% so that's about 0.36V.

My question is can I RMA the PSU to Antec (which I'd rather not do, since I don't like downtime). Or, is there a way to adjust the 12V via a POT somewhere. I know some PSUs have it, like the PCP&P. Does anyone know if Antec has one and where?

from wat i hav seen....the antecs do not hav internal pots. you will need to mod the psu...the mod is simple to do as it is not internal but requires u to just cut a few wires and to solder

Where are you getting those voltage readings?

The CoreCenter program that came with my board. It's the same readings in BIOS. However, I did forget to mention that I used SpeedFan to check my voltages and it stays 11.61V steady. It still feels a little low for me.

Software wont give you an accurate reading for voltages. You'll have to buy yourself a digital multimeter and test yourself. Right now SpeedFan says my 12V rail is 12.46V and the BIOS reads right around 12V.

If your 12V rail is +-1V, don't worry too much. 12V is seldom ever used for anything sensitive - it either powers something mechanical like a fan or a hard drive spindle, or it's regulated down by a VRM for your video card or CPU.

And motherboard measurements suck ass. And this bugs the hell out of me - why can't motherboard makers put a decent voltage refence and some precision resistors on their boards? it'd seriously cost about 10 cents more to have 1% accuracy.

I dont know where the hell its getting its reading from but EVEREST Home Edition says my 12V+ rail is at 2.24V lol.

it just doesnt like you :p

threaten to uninstall it, it will fall inline :p

*seconds notion for multimeter*

CoreCenter and my BIOS both read my 12v and 5v rails being below their actual ratings. I can't remember exactly how off, but I think the 12v is reading something like 11.88 or 11.92 in the BIOS/CoreCenter, and the 5v is 4.92 or something. I'm just guessing, I can't remember for sure since I'm at work  Either way, the OCZ PowerStream I have has adjustable rails in the back that you twist with a phillips head screwdriver and my 12v and 5v are dead on under load. I personally love this OCZ :) Really good clean and quiet power for $140. Plus it has 2 dedicated molex with sheilding running by themselves for either HardDrives or a videocard.
