Stock Athlon 64 3000+ on a Asus K8V.

Motherboard monitor and bios report 11.84v on the 12v line, do I need to worry about that?

Also, under load, my processor is getting up to 60C. I was having some problems with lockups, ect.. is it likely to be caused by that? Currently running stock heatsink but I have a new cooler on the way.

Thanks,
Nick

You dont need to worry about the voltage, and yes on an A64 60c is quite hot and youd need to check your cooling for dust/fan failure/proper contact.

somethings definitely wrong with the HSF...

My 3200 OCed to 2.2 on the stock HSF doesnt get past 56 on full load....

Lockups at that temp are common, this is most definitely the problem. Which new HSF'd you get?

Get a nice Zalman,Blue Orb II, or Arctic Freezer 7 HSF mid to high end and your lockups due to heat will end.

And your 12V readings are in good specs.... ;)

I've got an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro on the way. Limited funds avalible and it looked good for the price.

i almost bought this same cooler after lots of research. great choice, you should be pleased with the result.

My buddies A64 X2 3800 with stock cooling gets up to 67C at full load when ran at 2.6ghz on a stock heatsink.. he didnt have any issues at this temp but I told im to back it down till he gets his BT or Ninja. If 60C is your max temp and the system is stable I dont think its overally bad but not great by any means. At his stock speeds he was getting 44C at idle and 56C under full load. This is in a Antec Sonata with 2-120mm fans.

Man, this new cooler is great.

With the stock HSF, I was 50c idle, 61c load.

With this Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro I am 35C idle, 45C load.

Huge improvment. All for 33 bucks shipped, can't beat that.

This mother is huge too.

my amd heatpipe cooler has me idling at 34degrees and loading at 48degrees

thats with my 2ghz venice running at 2.8ghz :)

well, since we're all talkin' HSFs... my Sandy's running at 2.65, 29C idle, 38C load on a Scythe Ninja, w/1.44v. 35 bucks at jab-tech ('course i already had a 120mm fan). i think they went up a dollar, but that's still a slammin' price.
