128gb Flash drive

Anyone have experience with using these with a home router? I have an RT-AC66R.

Just thinking of a small file server to store basic stuff like pdfs, maybe songs? Looking at either a 128gb or 256gb

Should work just fine.

I did this with my Netgear R6300 and a 32gb flash drive for a little while. No problems.

Well I tried. Have never heard of those other sights and that's the cheasest I seen USB 3 flash drives of that size. My bad!

Just letting you know. This drive is pretty popular due to the reliability, speeds and it being a long time name brand, as well as it regularly goes on sale.

Be careful with PNY drives , they suck and go out fast from my experience with several different types of PNY flash drives. I got a 64 gb sony FD and been using it for 2 years now.

Mine has been running solid for a while now. I use it with my car stereo for MP3s. It even survived a trip through the washer and dryer (my wife absolutely refuses to check pockets when doing laundry, despite my protestations, but the one time I accidentally sent something in one of her pockets through the wash...).

That's just sort of warmish....

The PNY and HP versions (both OEMed by PNY) have been $29.99 here recently.

Still, if you need one right now it's a good deal considering they're like $60 normally. And these babies are FAST too.

Lol, where is this posted in? A hot deals thread?

I had this thing...Died after 30 minutes of use. Would crash during file transfer.
Amazon reviews seem to support this.

I have an old 8gb version of these drives, broke in half on me, funny enough it still works.

I have a 32gb and a 64gb, I have no clue what'd I would do with 128gb.

I've got a 128GB PNY flash drive that I have been using for over and year and it's been rock solid. I use it daily. Mine is the older USB 2 version though, I need to grab up a new USB 3.0 one.

I've gone 100% ssd for internal drives so I've been keeping an eye on large capacity versions of this as I'm getting dissatisfied with the speed of copies to external spinning drives. I haven't pulled the trigger on this particular drive as some of the reliability reports bug me and I really want a 256. The 128 has only been down to 30 once or twice. Mid 30's is pretty common now and it's never over 40 on Amazon.

One of the other factors is I regularly misplace usb sticks, but don't have that problem with larger 2.5" externals so it really doesn't save me time if I have to find the damn thing. 1st world problems.

I got a bad one too. Lasted a whole 30 minutes before the computer would no longer recognize it.

They're cheap for a reason.

Mine randomly disappears from my mac. I am going to try it in a linux box & see if the same thing happens.
