I was wondering if any game (ex :doom 3 or farcry) would take advantage of a 256 MB video card. I want to buy a new card and I want to know if I should spend a few more bucks to have 256 instead of 128.

it depends on which card it is. The newer geforce 6 series and x8xx series will use this amount when the game needs it. Older cards such as geforce fx 5700's or radeon 9600 really won't take any advantage using this. Probably the radeon 9800xt or 5950 would use this, and it doesn't matter anyways, because they already come with it to begin with.

I dont think 9800 level cards use the RAM. At least not with current games like D3.
