I've searched the forum resulting in no matches, maybe I'm a pioneer! :cool: I was going through some old junk (where us pioneers go for inspiration) and I found my sisters old Candy Lamp, which encased a blacklight bulb that I outfitted my computer with. (I know the picture is crappy, the camera should also be in the junk pile) So, I have a 420w ATX PS which came with a RaidMax case (in picture) and I'm looking for a 120v source to boost the ballast with. I wouldn't mind upgrading my PS. In fact, I need the excuse.

wouldnt you need to hook that into a regular socket?

could be cool....blacklights make me giggly. :D
 
it would add ALOT of heat into the case....lights get hot, imagine a black light(black absorbs heat..) good luck, it would be sick, but DAMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNN be careful that you dont roast ur system..
 
Why not just get some UV cold cathodes like all the rest of us that use the 12v supplied by your pc power supply like THESE
 
i would just put a sep power in... if you really wanted to go all out you could hook up a 12v relay to your PSU so when you turn on your pc it will turn on the relay then turn on the black light.... i would also make sure it doesnt put of too much heat but those small florescnet tend to not to in my experience with them

If it is a fluorescent light then it shouldn't put out too much heat.

The cleanest way(though not necessarily the safest way) would be to tap into the 120V coming in to your power supply. You would need a relay to turn it on with the rest of the system. Or, as mentioned, just get a couple UV cold cathode fluorescent lights.
