I just assembled my mATX HTPC over the weekend, but I still need some case fans....1x120mm and 2x80mm. My goal is decent airflow and quiet as quiet can be. My system sits on my desk at ear level, so if silence is golden, then I'm going for platinum.

I was comparing a Silverstone, Yate Loon and Scythe Minebea. I stumbled across the Scythe Slip-Streams, but I can't find any further info/reviews on them.

The models I'm specifically looking at are:
  1. Scythe Slip-Stream SY1225SL12M (68.5cfm, 24 dB)
  2. Silverstone FN121 (53.2cfm, 26.6 dB)
  3. Scythe Minebea Medium (63.6cfm, 27 dB)
  4. Yate Loon D12SM-12 (70.5cfm, 33 dB)
  5. Yate Loon D12SL-12 (47cfm, 28 dB)
Anyone care to provide feedback on any of the fans listed (or any alternates)?

1. There are a few threads over @ SilentPCReview on these - they're quite good, if memory serves. Not many formal reviews, though, as they've practically brand new to the market.
2. Don't bother.
3. Again, SPCR. :)
4. Don't bother. "M" means medium speed, 5. is "L" (low speed).
5. Buy several. They undervolt extremely well and would do nicely in an HTPC. They also push a good amount of air @ stock.

1. Thanks for the feedback! I'll head over to SPCR and do some researching, thanks for pointing out the site.
2. Noted.
3. SPCR, here I come....
4. Noted again.
5. I appreciate the vote of confidence on these. Unfortunately, I can only fit a single 120mm in my case and I won't be using a fan controller.

NCIX got a product request not too long ago to stock the Slipstreams. Then SPCR reviews them... its all good. I'd like to see some XS reviews though; the guys at SPCR sure seem anal about even the tiniest of noises/vibrations/psychic fluctuations, if the reviews are anything to go by.

In other news, you can find the ball bearing version of the D12SL as D12BL (Ball, low speed). SM and SH, accordingly for higher speeds.

NCIX already stock the slipstream ;)

SilentX always put the noise level at 5v along with the CFM at 12v (loud) to make it interesting... Others put the actual noise level generated by the labeled CFM.

all the reviews i can find are great though!!??

Well, by not too long, I meant in the last 3 months or so.

I'd pick one up, but my D12SL is quite sufficient for my XP120. And I can't really put out more CFM than the D12SH in my power supply (yay for blue Yate Loons).

[hint][hint]You know, I bet Yate Loon would definitely be in the market for green LED fans. Kinda like the UV blue ones they already have.[/hint]

Red would be better.

Both.

The market is seriously lacking in red/green fans of both colours in many sizes from quality people. And Coolermaster stopped making the green ones... Screw blue.
