OK, so i built this wooden sarcofogous for my computer to completely stop the noise. It works 100%. What I need right now is a way to get the heat out. A hole in the back would be ideal with a 120mm fan. I saw these:

and other voltages. I was wondering if i could just splice the ends and connect a panflo or vantec silent fan.

Or if I got the 12volt adapter could i attach it to a fan controller and add two fans in the back.

Please let me know if this is possible, or if you have a better solution. Thanks.

look at the power rating of the fan(s) you plan to use, and see if they exceed the 300ma output of the power supply. If they only list amperage (current) and not power (watts), then multiply amps by 12V to calculate the fan's power draw.

Ok, Power (Watts) = Voltage * Current (amps)

So, in this case, the fan uses .96w @ 12V, which means that it needs to be supplied .08A or 80 mA of current.

You could also look into some bigger fans that actually run on AC as well. Like, some 172mm fans. They might work better for what you are doing anyway. :)

I think i decided that to try it out i'm going to put a vantec stealth in and connect it to the fan controller I have. If that works i'll probably get a dc adapter from radioshack. Thanks for the help.

I ended up buying the variable model from radio shack...spliced the wires together, and it works perfectly.
