$1200.00 CDN budget gaming rig

Hi Guys,

First I appologize - sorry for not bringing anything to the table other than a n00b request, but it's been so long since I've built a gaming rig that I forget where to buy one and almost how!

Here's the scoop - My bro in law has between 1200 - 1300 CDN to build a box that will kick some ass for at least a year or 2. He already has a monitor, kb & mouse. He has no need or interest in burning dvd's etc - just a gaming box. The only places i've purchased stuff online in Canada are ncix & tigerdirect. I like to catch the free shipping deals with orders over a certain amount because i'm cheap!

The games he will be into are doom3 & hl2, what do you guys recommend? (I should mention that we have a slight preference for amd gear)

Where are you in Canada? Have you tried www.canadacomputers.com, www.pccanada.com both of these sites are out of Toronto.

Overclocking or not?

I recommend NCIX; in my dealings with them I have never had a problem. Price matching is great too.

tigerdirect.ca is also very good, I have never had any probs with them in the past.
