Please recommend a good 1155 cooler.

Was looking at thermalright silver arrow and noctua something 14.

Then pick one, SA SB-E, or D14, you will find reviews that will place them on either side, so it's really a personal choice or which one you find the best deal on.
 
I'm using a coolermaster 212 evo. Spent 30 bucks on it, works great. This is on a 3570k.

At 3 to 4 times the sound level, yes, but when you put them on level playing fields and give each the same amount of CFM, the air coolers win by a good deal. Most of these air coolers come with 1k-1.2k RPM fans, while the H100 has 2.5k RPM fans, add in two more of those and you can take a guess at what the noise profile is like....Loud. AIO watercoolers have been known for some time to only ever match aircoolers and often time well below them, where AIO WCing shines are cases with very limited space that a tower cooler would never fit in, or when someone wants a more "open" look in the case etc etc, however the reason to get one for out right cooling is just not the case.
 
Just get the Hyper212+ or 212+ Evo. If it still doesn't perform at the level you want it to, then send lots of hate mail to Intel for choosing to put thermal paste under the IB K-series IHS instead of fluxless solder.
 
on my 3570k I saw temp drops of almost 15c when switching to the evo from stock hsf. I've also got two fans on it.
 
the hyper212+ is pretty good for the money

however the catch with it is.... depending on your threshold for noise irritation is the stock fan... i found it makes a really irritating continually changing whining sound as the pwm sensor adjusts or whatever.

blah blah blah... i ended up swapping both fan(s) to two Gelid Silent 12pwm fans..however this added about 100% too the overall cost of the solution.

I'm happy it is very quiet now... but it is now a $50 solution rather than a $25 one.
ultimately I can't help wondering if I could have done better waiting on a higher end cooler to go on sale for $50~ish range....meh..

i'm getting load temps in the mid 60s @ 4.3Ghz with a poor overclocking 2500K (needs 1.265 in bios to get to 4.3Ghz).


I'm not sure if the evo's fan is better (less whine) but I have two hyer212+ coolers and the fans are both the same (annoying whine with speed change).

never mind. I thought he removed the heat shield on the cpu. I read somewhere that Intel did something to keep the temp a bit higher. Didn't really researched that yet.
