My wife uses a 2020 iMac with a 27" 5K screen. We have 2 spare 27" monitors and either could be used as a second display. The 1080p is a BenQ 60 hz VA panel. The 1440p is an Acer 144hz IPS panel. I am thinking the Acer would be better, is that true? I am not sure if the iMac can output 144hz to a second display, but the increased resolution seems to be a clear advantage.

Update, wife says the Acer 1440p has a picture that is more clear and brighter. Also, the mouse cursor had a curious problem on the 1080p second monitor. The cursor would go to a different level moving from iMac to 2nd monitor screen. I am guessing it is because the 1440p screen is an exact multiple of 5K (5120x2880 vs 2560x1440). Also, the refresh rate max value is 70 hz. All in all the Acer is better than the BenQ.
