Just curious with talk of large monitors and such, does anyone here have a killer projector setup that they game on?

I currently have a 30 in Dell and really can't see myself spending a couple thousand on another monitor when projector prices have come down so much.

More of a curiosity question.

to game on a projector you need a good one...

the cheapest 1080p units out now are around $1000 msrp - and they really lack the black level for gaming, specific to output from a pc

fine for home theater... but you need more contrast and pop [sharpness, colors] for pc gaming

that being said look to spend about $1500 on a worthwhile 1080p projector that is going to be worth the investment for pc gaming...

it's actually where im torn right now... around xmas i want to evaluate the samsung eyefinity monitors and either get 3 of them or a decent 1080p projector as i already have a 95" screen

I have been keeping my eye on HD projectors for awhile now.
I have a theater room where i have been using a non HD projector for a couple of years now.
I recently put a PS3 on it, and it kinda sucks to only play at 480p on my 100" screen.

I am very tempted to buy one of these 1080p projectors for my theater room.

Here they compare this panasonic to just about every other projector in its class.
it even outperforms a $10,000 projector in many categories.

From what i have read this panasonic ae4000 is the best price/performance projector you can get right now
It is so popular that it is currently hard to find, and it usually sells for much more then its MSRP.
Im just waiting for the price to drop down due to excessive demand right now.
Or I will get a competitors model once they lower their prices to compete with the Panasonic.

yes the ae4 is a beast! ive seen it demoed right in my very room / well worth the $2k asking price

that being said... the ae3 is an amazing unit as well and if you can find it is well worth $1500 or so

but thats my very point... dont spend $1k and think you're getting a good deal on the entry level 1080p units

spend the extra to get a worlds more

Nice linkage, thanks for the information. I spent about $1600 for my 3007 about 2 years ago. I know they can be had for much less now. However, if I want to "upgrade" they only real upgrade I can see is a high quality LCD TV device (for size) or a projector.
