At this res, with AA, what do you guys think? 4870 or GTX260?

With AA, go for 4870 definitely. 4870 handles AA beautifully, even at high res.

So regardless of raw performance (they are close but 260 wins right?) the 4870 will do my AA better?

I wonder if Deadspace is a system hog

In most benchmarks i saw, the 4870 could perform as well as the gtx280 but, some games the gtx260 caught up and beat it (and the 280 was far ahead) you could probably even use a 4850 at 1080p and get very nice frame rates.

its probably more driver related, AMD/ATI takes longer to do that.

If you like AA then the 4870. With the AA turned up the 4870 actually closes on the GTX280.

I'de say gtx 260. It overclocks very well, has more memory, uses less power(less heat), still does well in AA no matter what ATI fans say, has more companies that sell them with lifetime warranties, physx support, CUDA, and some games get optimized for nvidia

This ATI fanboy just bought a GTX280. sorry, if your looking for AA then the 4870 beats out the GTX260. and comes within throwing distance of the GTX280.

I'm happy with the 8800gt AA performance let alone the GTX260! CSAA is where it's at...least performance hit and you can't tell the difference between MSAA and CSAA while playing if your at 8xCSAA or even 16xCSAA in a lot of games
