1080p 22"

Hey guys,
I've been looking for a sub-$200 22" monitor, and there are quite a few with full 1920x1080 resolution.I'll be using it to browse the internet, do work, play video games, and watch a few movies/use iTunes.

My only concern is: will i have any trouble browsing the internet or typing my papers with such a high resolution (1920 horizontally) stuffed into a smaller screen(22")? Do any of you have experience with this resolution on a 22" monitor?It would help a ton if you could post some pictures in your replies. I've previously owned a 22" at normal 16:10 aspect ratio, and had no problems.

'll be sitting about 2 feet from the screen.
Anyone have advice on any of my following options?

I can get this monitor at my local best buy through a friend for $142 + tax, its a 19'', 1680x1050, same concerns stand.

I have a 22" 1680x1050 and I can say that I have no problems related to what you said. Actually I don't have any problems whatsoever. I don't know about 1920x1080 packed into 22" though.

Leefa, I too had a 22" @ 1680x1050 and I was in your boat. What I had to do though is increase the DPI in the advance display settings so I could read text clearly (my eyes strain enough as it is). I bumped it to 120 DPI (the standard next level) and all was well. I had to do the same thing on my new 25" @ 1920x1080 as well.

I saw one at Micro Center and it looked pretty good. $30 more than your limit, but I'd take it over a 1680 x 1050 if you want 1080p. I'm using a Dell 20" 1680 x 1050 now, but I was looking at the other Dell and the 24" Sceptre (1920 x 1200) for $269. I ended up getting the Sceptre. I liked the extra screen area for computer stuff, and I can still watch 1080p movies. I think you'll see the size of the 1920 x 1080 screens the same vertically as the 1680 x 1050. It's noticeably wider is all.

1920x1080 is the way to go otherwise the picture is letterboxed just make sure you check reviews on the monitors you consider so they don't suffer from slow response times and dead pixels!

It's fine for me. Of course, the 22" screens will be bigger. Your best bet is to go into the store and look at them yourself. It's a subjective call. If you want to do movies, I really think you'd be happier with the 1920 x 1080 screens. The Asus at the 'egg meets your price limit with free shipping:

FYI - picked up that Westinghouse L2220HW at my local bestbuy for 179 (195 after tax!) last Saturday and hooked it up to the D-Sub on my secondary PC with the AGP X850. Looks great to this untrained eye. Kids are happy to get rid of the 10 year old 19" envision CRT whose brightness was fading rapidly.

I kinda like the 16x9 form factor. Still looks small next to my L2410NM, though. Standard fonts are definitely small.
