1080 Ti

My favorite hardware supplier (and his servants) offered me to deliver one FE on March 14 or March 15. Let's hope they do. At least I pressed the button.

Waiting on my bonus from work - ifs its a decent one i'm getting a 108Ti - if not its another 1070 or 1080

... did the same, decent enough, pressed the order button ... ;)

and if "A" not lying it says: "Preparing for Shipment" :D
but i fear the same as with 1070 will happen and delayed ...

Updated to: shipping / arriving today ...

Got my 1080Ti .... but its not folding (under Linux). I deleted the GPUs.txt file but the re download is the same: the 1080Ti is not yet added (dropped the maintainer a PM)

Also the official NV driver 378.13 is not giving the card's proper name. Bleeding edge ...

:(:mad::cry::unsure::banghead:

The panic ended; GPUs.txt got updated.

... and time to get the coolbits out again ...

The fan profile of the stock-MSI cards seems better; neither my 980Ti nor the benched 1070 ever reached 80C ...

with coolbits and 66% fan the temps getting better

But hell, the fan of the FE is noisy at that speed; I really miss my MSI 1070 Gaming X with this respect. Coolingwise I think MSI is doing a great job.

Did I hear someone saying: get another 1080ti from MSI once available ? stop saying this ...

This is an awesome card for folding. I recalled back in the days where I was a member of AtlasFolder Hunt-Dis team, he was producing 500K+ ppd with more than 50 GPU cards. I know he used to be active here during the bigadv days but the videos that he made still inspires me.

Imagine what a 50 1080ti would do.

I remember seeing those videos back in the day.

Even 50 980 Tis or 50 vanilla 1080s would be phenomenal.

Although I would love to have 50M+ PPD.

Looks like $3000 energy cost per month on that scale with 13kWh
He was already running 23 GTX295 and probably consumed more power than anyone here. Each GTX 295 has max power of 289W, more than 1080 Ti. Just a hypothetical argument, what if he could ....1080ti:cool: and no water cooling. Ok off topic now.

The date and time stamp showed 2014. So I think he has stopped folding first in his old team and then later with us. Wish he could join us back:whistle:

The 1080Ti GPU farm will be super-awesome show of power and need lots of $.

Ah yeah it does show 2014. Would explain why I couldn't located him. Haha
