Looks like (unless there is some kind of sea change moment) the 1080 should be able to max out anything at 1080p and still pull 60fps.
The original 980 was pitched as such, and does an admirable job, but this should finally be the capper on that.
I can't max out most AAA games on PC with a Titan X @1500mhz at 1080p. For instance... In GTA V I can only go up to 4x MSAA and grass on high before I hit unacceptable dips. Not having the grass set to ultra is fine but I sure would like to use 8x MSAA as it looks considerably better to me than both 4x MSAA and FXAA.
get a better monitor as x8 msaa on 1080p is ridiculous. It tanks the fps without real improvement. 1440p with fxaa will look better than 1080p msaa, not even saying 1440p with x2 msaa which is as high as you really might need to go for the best visuals.I can't max out most AAA games on PC with a Titan X @1500mhz at 1080p. Maybe it is, but the hit is too painful. Get Dell's S2716DG which is basically similar to PG278Q if you're not one of those IPS-hyped guysI have had 2 PG278Q's and a PG279Q and have had issues with all three (First two Swift's had dead pixels and the ips Swift shipped with a dead screen). I was waiting for the issues to sort themselves out. Now I'm just waiting for a decent sale on another PG279Q. I completely agree with you when you say 1440p with fxaa looks a lot better than 1080 with 8x msaa. There is however a very noticeable difference (to me) when I go from 4x msaa to 8x msaa in GTA V at 1080p... And until I get a new Swift, that matters to me.
