Well have you dusted it out? like using a can of compressed air? Then maybe just take one of those car things you hang from the mirror and just lay it on top of the back of your monitor and that should do the trick.

i smelled that for over a week coming from my sister's computer.

about 2 week later,i hear her yelling and rush into her room to find her powersupply blew up.

took the PSU out and decided to take it apart.the whole board was burnt.

YMMV depending on where you live. Hopefully your monitor turns out ok though

Yep, it's a gonna die mon and yep it's pretty cheap to get a new or slightly used one. Look in your yellow pages for recycled computers, we have one and you can get a 19" gateway that's 2 years old for about $75-!
