1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
gaming & image/video editing
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Roughly $1000, excl. shipping
3) Where do you live?
Austin, TX
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
CPU, RAM, MB, graphics, monitor, PS, HDD?
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
KB, mouse, mousepad, speakers, case, DVD drives, 320 & 640 GB HDDs
6) Will you be overclocking?
Nope
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
1920x1080
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
1 month
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
nothing comes to mind.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Win 7 x64
Here's what I'm thinking about:
$90 CORSAIR 650W
$200 i5-750
$120 Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3
$110 G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB)
$315 Sapphire HD5850
$170 ASUS VH226
$100 Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB
For a total of $1105. What I'm wondering is if there's anything that seems excessive, or if anything can be improved for around this price range. Maybe shaving about $100 off the build would be nice. Would it be a good idea to jump to 6GB RAM?
Also, a couple of questions, do you guys think that a SSD would be of great benefit for someone within this budget range? What about those cheap 6-core AMD cpus?
