I can't install the latest drivers on my XFX 5870. The installer opens a log file but it appears utterly useless.

Driver Install: the installation failed

Have you driversweeped all your old drivers before installation?
Also have you downloaded the right OS version for your PC 32bit or 64bit?
Maybe just try redownloading it

In order: Yes repeatedly. Wrong OS version drivers abort the install very early with a "You can't use 32bit drivers on a 64 bit OS" message. Did it more than once.

I'm having the same exact problem - I get an error every time I try to install on my 4870x2 Windows 7 64bit machine. I have driver sweeped, CCleaner'd, and downloaded the drivers a couple times to make sure I had the right ones.

I just did a clean install of Win7 Pro x64 and didn't have any issues with 10.9 drivers (full suite) and my XFX 5870. Did you install the Full Catalyst Software Suite or individual driver components?

I tried doing it both ways. I can install everything from the 10.9 suite except the driver.

NP. I'm glad they worked for you :)

I've started waiting about a week before I install new AMD drivers just in case a hotfix follows. They don't always do that and it seems to happen often enough to encourage me to wait.
