10.3 Official is out!

From the CatalystMaker himself, Terry Makedon, on 10.3a vs 10.3 WHQL:
RT @anilgohan: i have heard somewhere that the 10.3a preview has better performance than 10.3 ? ME - YES 10.3a is newer and faster on AvP

Note: the reply prefixed by "ME" is the reply from Terry@ATI

Agreed. Sounds like Terry says 10.3a is the way to go for us performance users.

just installed and tested the 10.3 drivers with the 10.3 profiles. i just installed over the 10.2 drivers i had installed. bezel compensation was autodetected as soon as i enabled it.. i had to redo my extended desktop profile a few times before it stuck, but ive had that issue no matter what driver i have used. benchmarking in dirt 2 i didnt really notice much of a difference, although because of the bc i had to up the resolution to 6048x1200 so that probably accounts for most of any improvements.ive got everything in high expect post processing (med) and crowd (low), 6048x1200, 2xmsaa. 82 max, 66min. i don't know what it is but anytime i try to up the msaa more than 2 the game freezes badly and becomes super laggy in the menus (the higher the worse it is). anyone else have this issue? i had this on the other drivers too so its not 10.3 causing this.
otherwise things seem good. the bc makes the games look alot better. thanks ati.

installed these over 10.2 and dirt 2 started freezing around 10 minutes into the game...it did this 3 times at roughly the same interval. i was able to play dirt 2 all day without a hitch on the 10.2 set.

so, i uninstalled the drivers, rebooted...removed the display driver from device manager and removing said driver via checkbox. booted into safe mode, ran driver sweeper for all ati stuff. booted back up, installed 10.3, rebooted...

dirt 2 worked for longer after doing that but instead of it freezing the screen went blank, saw some weird patterns flash on the bottom half of the screen and got a bluescreen after about 40 minutes of gameplay.

gonna go back to 10.2 and see if my issue goes away....

edit: just played for almost an hour without issue...

i decided to install the 10.3a drivers just to see if there was any difference vs the 10.3. none fps wise in dirt 2 for me, but the menu transitions seem to be a bit smoother. think ill keep the 10.3a drivers and test these out more.

installed over 10.1 and they seem to work good so far.. played lotro, doom3, and fear2 for a while and everything played well... performance does seem better than 10.1... haven't tried the bezel correction yet though.. one nice thing that I noticed, my eyefinity display group stayed intact through this install.. that was nice.

Downloading now. Can't wait to have bezel compensation back (starting to miss it from when I was using SoftTH).

Edit1: Bezel compensation isn't working. I click "add bezel compensation" and Catalyst Control Center just hangs.

Edit2: These made my left monitor (Displayport-to-DVI adapter) start blinking. I'm going to have to go back to 10.2

Where's the huge crossfire improvement ATi was promising? WTH happened?

i was thinking the same thing.....although the bezel compensation is a good enough reason for me to change up the drivers. i was just hoping to see at least a small improvement in some of the newer titles....

Same problem with Dirt 2 and 10.3 WHQL. I'd get a warning from Windows that Aero was being disabled because of performance degradation then Dirt 2 would crash. I uninstalled 10.3 WHQL and installed the 10.3b beta drivers. The game plays fine now.

I was having issues with flashing window textures on 10.3 whql so I went to 10.3b (just installed them over the 10.3's) and bingo.. all is good now. these 10.3 drivers seems solid in general, performance feels a bit smoother than 10.1 which is what I was on for a long while..

Do a fresh install (not install on top of 10.3a) 10.3b. Fixed a lot of problems for me anyway.

With a fresh install of 10.3b Bad Company runs far better than it has ever before.

Are you opening the steam community? Sometimes if you open it up, it causes the mouse to stop responding until you either a) open and close the community or b) hit escape.
