Yep, saw that one coming a mile away.iMac: You can now choose what Apple is calling a Fusion Drive. 128GB of flash storage mixed with 1 or 3GB HDD.
I got screwed? News to me.3rd gen iPad owners just got screwed, hah.

genius marketing.. however im a fan of mac books they are pretty solid.
I was really hoping the iPad mini would have been a 7" device. But nope, they went bigger and made the bezel the wrong shape (where do I put my thumbs when I'm reading a book).
...iPad mini intelligently recognizes whether your thumb is simply resting on the display or whether youre intentionally interacting with it.

We sure did, and I will officially never buy an Apple product ever again. No more Apple phones, no more Apple tablets. They obsoleted a closed-system product, giving it the odd-man-out processor from the mini and ipad 4 SIX MONTHS AFTER RELEASE.
Fuck you, Apple. Surface/Android here I come.

Isn't this what it comes down to? The new iPad Mini does have a larger display than the competing 7" tablets. Nice materials are nice, but the real hook for consumers is iOS and the plethora of apps that have been developed for it.
The same early-refresh hysteria happened as a result of the iPhone 3GS (if I'm not mistaken). It didn't make sense to me then and it doesn't make sense to me now. People getting mad at a company for releasing newer, better products, and vowing to never buy products from that company ever again.
It's absolute lunacy.
Right. What's your point?iPad 1, 2 and 3 were all a year apart.
And now we know why they dropped the numbering... so people who don't know any better can be sold the 3rd gen since hey it's only 6 months old and it's called the ipad!
4th gen is a nice tab, but I do feel sorry for the folks who dropped 6 bills 4-5 months ago thinking they'd keep with the 1 year development cycle.
Seriously? So they should have just held off on releasing an A6 iPad for another 6 months just to keep you from getting angry? If they had it ready to go, why not release it? Your iPad is still faster than the Mini which only has a A5 processor. It's hardly "obsolete" when Apple is selling other devices running inferior hardware. I am a little confused as to why the iPad 2 is staying in the lineup at the same pricepoint though. It looks looks like a complete ripoff at this point when compared to the Mini and the 4th Gen.

So now Apple is going to release a new product every time they -
1) use a new display
2) use a new cpu
3) add some tiny hardware feature
I guess its good business practice when you have people lining up to buy every single incremental upgrade and every blog ready to declare it the best product ever made.
I have absolutely no idea. I bought a new iPad because of what it was and what it does, not about how it was going to make me feel for a year before the next one was released. Why buys anything thinking about "the 1 year development cycle"?
/thread
that's pretty much how the company runs
Actually that is complete nonsense. Apple usually has the longest time between product upgrades of any of the Hardware companies. Releasing Approximately one Tablet/year, one Phone/year.
This was a special case, of bringing out a new product and aligning another product in the family.
As soon as the iP5 was released, I was certain there would be a an updated full size iPad with the new dock connector and I thought there might be an A6 as well. There were leaks of the full size iPad case with the new connector as well. It only makes sense to put the iPads in synch.
So you think this has nothing to do with the Surface launch? Apple had no reason to release this now instead of the yearly iPad refresh in Spring 2013. They could easily have announced the mini now, and held back iPad 4 for next year.
