1 year into custom loop...

So it's been one year into my watercooling setup. I did not notice any real temp performance drop but I did notice my fluid changed color. The purple Pastel from Mayhems faded and didn't look near as dark. I just did a mobo, cpu, ram upgrade... well side grade. Waiting on my fresh bottle of Mayhems coolant to come I decided to go ahead and drain the loop and refill with what I had in my cabinet that looked much better in color. I plan to do a full tear down and block scrub in a couple months. I did notice someting interesting.. my waterblock has a plastic clear piece in it for flow control I assume.. this piece turned almost milky white.. looks stained. I am almost curious if that is what messed up the Mayhems liquid. I will order a fresh replacement when I do the block scrub. For now it looks great and my temps are mid 60s on 2 cores and high 50's on two cores @ 4.8ghz 6700K after 2 hours of stress testing. 6700K runs as cool if not cooler than my naked 4790K did... and the 6700K is stock IHS. After owning this setup and be a frequent on silentpcreview I will never call watercooling loud. I know at idle I can get air cooling maybe a tad quieter but this system is dead silent and under load it's much more quiet than my old air cooling solution which was not cheap.

I couldn't even fault you on the colour either way. The build matches and looks hella clean.

Thank you. I've probably built 100+ PC's over the past 15+ years.. This one has been my favorite. I have a white matching yeti Blue mic and a White JBL bookshelf speakers as well as a black keyboard with white keys.. the whole combo really comes together in my office.

Damn, one heck of a transformation. Looking great!

Thank you. I almost changed cases but I really like this one. Adding a flow indicator with sensor to spread some color and then I am probably good for another year.

No problem! Awesome theme'd setups like these really make me consider getting a custom loop together. Just went the AIO route (long time "air is good enough" guy here) a month ago for my first time and was blown away by the results.

I have been doing water on and off since the Pond Pump days and Heater cores. Things have gotten so much better with these PWM pumps etc. My liquid cooling kills my old air setup which was a highend air cooler. It's not for everyone but for those of us who are [H]ard I think it's very enjoyable. :)

Clear tubing would be alright as long as the fluid colour you choose goes with the flow.

LOL.. well the fluid is a purple which my cables are as well. My worry is what I have seen happen to a lot of clear cables.. which pushes me back to wanting to go with PETG or Acrylic tubing. Then that adds some more cost because of the fitting changes.
