I was wondering if anyone had experience with Notfred's USB Folding sticks?

Does it save it's progress?

The reason I'm asking is I have a couple computers setup that I want to Fold on that I also use for gaming when friends and whatnot come over. I used his Folding CDs and they work great, but if a friend comes over and wants to play then I have to stop and lose the WU.

2nd reason is cause I have 3 Dual P3 computers sitting there doin nothing and no HDDs so I want to do headless on them. if I could use the USB stick I wouldn't need to find old CD-Roms for them... mainly because I was gonna try... a open air far on the wall (got a nice peg board waiting for some attention ;-P... and I'd like the idea if I lose power not to lose TOO much of the WU... ya know?

You might try setting up your farm using Fold-Server.

There would be one machine that has a hard drive that acts as a server that the other machines net-boot off of. You only need a CD drive while you install the OS. The only drawback is that the server needs two NIC's.

You could install your OS of choice on the spare gaming computers and change the boot options to net-boot or HD boot as needed. The server remembers the MAC addresses of the computers and saves their progress too.

I ran this for a couple of years with only minor issues. The author, Unhappy_Mage, still stops by the forums from time to time.

I second that. You can have the computers reboot and hit F12 during boot to select what you want to boot (HD, CDROM, LAN). You will have to turn your LAN ROM on which might affect boot time.

Oops, thought this was a thread about sexual problems......;):D

Not Notfred's, but last spring I built one on a 512mb stick with DSL, and it worked just like a hard drive but less power. Ran it bare in my workshop (NO BILLR - the m/b was BARE!!), got some wood dust in the PCI slot's, wouldn't start up again :(
